My Ibanez RG1570

July 16th, 2010

The first time I played an Ibanez RG1570 I fell in love right on the spot. Killer feel and good looks was enough to make me go right out and buy one. Before I bought this beauty I had owned a few Epiphone guitars of lower quality and never really found them all that appealing in looks, quality or sound.

An Ibanez RG1570 is a strat-style guitar that Ibanez makes in its Prestige factory in Japan. These Prestige guitars are made from the highest quality parts and wood and are assembled by top notch luthiers.

The RG is known for its fast wizard neck which is the fastest recognized neck that I know of. Its typically made in a 5-piece style that allows it to be thin and flat yet strong and sturdy. They also add titanium rods for extra strength in the newer models of wizard neck.

24 fret guitars haven’t always been built with the best accessibility to those top frets but the RG1570 has been designed in such a way that you can reach those 23rd and 24th frets with ease and no added stress on your fretting wrist.

The 3 pickup system may seem like overkill to some people but the 5 way switching that Ibanez has created along with the tonal characteristics of the 3 pickups makes for an easy system for getting any tone for any situation.

Plain looking but great craftsmanship is the motto around this guitar. It won’t win any art awards but the finishing and smooth transitions more than make up for the lack of a killer mural painted on them. A simple rosewood fretboard is marked with pearl dot inlays and unless you’re blind you don’t need anything more than that to find your way around the neck.

I have owned this guitar for 2 years now and it’s still in perfect condition considering all the gig use that I put it through. I would recommend one to anybody and if it were lost, damaged or stolen I would replace it with another in a heartbeat.
