Bad Credit? You Can Still Get A Cell Phone
For those people who don’t have a great record with credit or even those with some spots on their rating, one of the contracts for bad credit cell phones may be the best option for you. Though companies do certainly pick those with good scores and high ratings first, some other offer options only to those on the lower end of the scale. The majority though, offer contracts for both types of customers.
The upside to these other formats is that a check of a person’s credit may not be necessary, which benefits the consumer who needs the phone, and the company who gets another client.
In such a case, the cell or mobile phone company may ask for a down payment from the new customer. Based on the person’s credit rating, payments may vary from $200 all the way up to $500. The scale slides up as the credit of a person is worse.
For some people, this solution might not work out because such a down payment may just simply be too large to pay at any one time. That said though, if a person does manage to get the amount then they can get a good phone, a good contract, and all of it is subsidized.
Some other companies might not require the initial payment, but they will likely ask for higher monthly fees and inflict more penalties. One example of this may be having to pay double in one month for missing a payment.
A prepaid plan is another option for someone who may not have great enough credit to obtain a normal plan. In a prepaid plan, the credit score is irrelevant because all payment is made up front and allows the consumer much more freedom to monitor and control their plans.
The moral of this story is that there are cell phones for people with bad credit. Cell phones are a necessity these days and even though your credit may be poor, there are options.
