Black purses, a bright outlook

July 22nd, 2010

Black is that one color that will go with just about any other color.  The simple truth is a black handbag has certain characteristics that set it apart from any other.  For an air of mystery and sensual appeal, plus some dedicated sophistication, owning at least one black purse should be a part of every woman’s ensemble.

Since the Victorian era, woman’s purses were designed to match the outfits they were wearing. Now, while we are generally a little bit less frilly today, a vintage purse is still chic and they do have their own style niche.  Being easily as style conscious today, if not more, however, a girl needs her purse to appropriately go with what she is wearing.  It’s not practical to purchase a purse to exactly suit every outfit in your wardrobe, so it’s important to have at least a small cache of purses that will nicely go with almost any clothing combo you can come up with.  A black purse should be at the top of that list.

The black can complement and tie together a plethora of colors.  It can tone down or soften some of the brighter colors you may be wearing.  It adds a confident sophistication that no other color can match.  Going very well with softer tones, a black bag will help draw out that mysterious female appeal that plays upon the senses.  A few colors to avoid wearing with a black handbag are browns and navy.  There really is no “all in one purse,” but if you are limited to only a few choices, or are simply shopping around…think black.

Black is just a color (or lack of color), however, and obviously there will be many styles and construction materials that will come together to make a nice black purse.  A black leather handbag is what comes to mind first, for most, when thinking of a black purse.  They have always been my favorite and the leather adds a level of class and style all by itself.  Leather isn’t the only option, however, as a black cloth or knit handbag will serve well with any casual outing.  The purse doesn’t have to be expensive or cruel either, as there are “false leather” alternatives, and knock off styles.  So happy choosing, and think black.
