Tyrosine is a non-essential amino acid formed in the body from the essential amino acid phenylalanine. It is believed that both of these ingredients stimulate your body’s natural ability to produce melanin. Melanin is what causes your skin to darken.
Some tan accelerator lotions also include aloe vera and vitamin E. These two ingredients are included in good tan accelerators and are used to help keep skin moisturized and prevent wrinkles. It is important to understand that tan accelerators do not protect your skin from the damaging effects of UV rays such as skin cancer; they only reduce the amount of time needed to spend under ultraviolet light to achieve the same results. Use care and caution when tanning even with the use of tan accelerators.
