Common Bodybuilding Mistakes Women Make

June 27th, 2010

There are so many misconceptions, half-truths, assumptions and delusions as far as bodybuilding is concerned. It gets worse when it comes to bodybuilding for women over 50 because so many people have the wrong ideas about women at this age. First, people should understand that human body never stops growing as long as the person is alive. The production of testosterone ensures that the body stays alive and active. However, the amount of these growth hormones is largely affected by the level of activity of the body. If your body is active physically, the body will produce more growth hormones to meet the physical demands, hence better growth, appearance and health. This is the main reason you need to be fit and healthy.

Different people exercise for different reasons, although most do so to look great physically. These include reducing aging signs, building muscles, reducing stress and wrinkles among others. There are common mistakes that most women trying to build their bodies through exercises make and I will list some of them here so that you may avoid them.

a) Do not focus on losing weight, this is not healthy. Instead, focus on losing fat and increase muscle mass. In some instances, you may lose fat but be heavier than before because your muscles will be toned and bigger even if you may not see that from the outside.

b) Fluctuation in body weight is bound to happen, do not be alarmed if you lose or gain. Women often worry too much about gaining weight to the point that it affects their overall exercising.

c) Dieting while exercising is good but are you supplying the body with the right amount of energy? The right over 50 exercise routine will need energy from the food you eat, you have to eat healthy not necessarily less to be healthy and fit.
