Organizing to stop distractions and reduce stress
If you feel drained all the time it could be because you are dealing with distractions. Distractions have a way draining your energy because you have to shift your focus from one project or subject to another. Often times the starting and stopping requires energy to regain focus on the previous topic of discussion or on the current task you are working on.
What can you do to stop distractions while increasing productivity?
The first thing you should do is identify what is major distraction in your daily activity. A distraction could start out in the morning by having to look for your wallet, purse or car keys every morning. These are small distractions that consume energy and can cause a distraction. As example, it is 7:00am in the morning and you are ready to walk out the door and you realize you can not find your keys. Your whole goal was to leave for work not to stop your momentum and look for keys or a wallet. These types of daily distractions can cause stress and can be avoided by getting organized. Another example of stress that cam about because you were distracted was while you were looking for your keys you had to put down the present for your secretary or co worker and you end up leaving it at home. This could have been prevented if you were organized and would not have caused you to become distracted. Due to your distraction you know have to add stress by searching for a new present to only settle for a cheap gift basket that was not the gift you planned on giving so you settled.
Getting organized reduces distractions and increases productivity.
You should make it a goal to get organized. As an example, at night before you go to bed you should always set out your work clothes for the next day. When you do this you prevent the surprises of finding out the shirt or pants you wanted are in the dirty clothes or you don’t have anymore clean socks. These are little daily things your can work on to get organized. Next, you can work on other things to organize your life from installing a tie a rack for clothes ties to hanging up bike hooks to organize a garage. All these little things you don’t thing conscientiously about create stress and you should work on getting them organized to help your mental health.
