Basic on Sewing Fabrics
Before you start to do any new thing, it is always good that you have a basic knowledge about the same thing. Same stands true when you plan to sew any fabric using a sewing machine. It can be a normal cotton or nylon fabric that you want to sew using sewing machine, or may be you want to sew leather using sewing machine for leather or to sew any other heavy or light fabric, etc. Here are some of the basics on how to sew any fabric using normal swing machine or leather sewing machine.
Very first point you have to keep in mind is the type of fabrics you are going to sew together. If you are sewing two or more pieces of same material say cotton with cotton, leather with leather, etc than the only thing you have to make sure is that the thread you are using is of strength that can hold the fabrics together like for leather you need high strength thread while for cotton, nylon thread should be of medium strength. But if you are sewing a cotton pice with leather than you have to be extra careful before using a thread. I this case maximum strength of thread should not be more than the max cotton can handle, else cotton fabric may get torn of because of the thread. Another main thing to be taken care of while sewing is that you use the swing needle of proper thickness based on the fabrics being sewed together.
Also, if you are sewing two fabrics of different type then make sure you have washed the fabric which have chances of shrinking. This way the shrinking effect will be nullified even before sewing them together. So, you item will not get damaged when you wash it later on after making your stuff.
