The Corner Kitchen Hutch helping Cooks become Organized

September 10th, 2010

One issue that small kitchens have is that they lack the adequate storage space. There is barely enough room to put the essential items like spices, pots and pans, silverware, dishes, and dry goods. When the cook starts to acquire new tools and utensils the space starts to become cluttered. A great way to add more storage space to small kitchens is with the addition of a corner kitchen hutch.

A corner kitchen hutch is a piece of furniture that is similar to a bookcase but it has cabinets and drawers. The hutch takes advantage of its height to add more storage room while not taking up that much floor space. They come in a variety of styles and sizes to accommodate any theme or kitchen size. They can have closed cabinets with glass doors or open shelves for easy access. A hutch can be used to store kitchen linens, towels or anything that a cook needs to store but doesn’t have room.

The kitchen hutch can also add another workstation. Most hutches have a countertop or a pull out table; similar to kitchen carts. This new workstation can be used as a cutting station with the cutting board and knives stowed away in one of the drawers. The new station can also be a food prep station with spices and serving utensils kept in the extra storage space. A kitchen appliance like the microwave can be moved to the hutch’s counter to free up more room on the existing countertop too. Other appliances that would also work are the toaster, toaster oven or broiler.

By adding a kitchen hutch it not only offers additional storage space but it can greatly increase the efficiency of the kitchen. When the cook doesn’t have to look all around for a specific item it cuts down on preparation time. Hutches allow a busy cook a place to store the overflow of cookware and to become more organized.
