Which Home Fitness Equipment Best Suits You?
If you are looking for some fitness equipment to help you get fit, lose weight or improve your health you will notice there is a massive choice of exercise equipment on the market you could opt for, not only is there huge choice but the same item can often come in various price brackets. The whole process of buying the best home fitness equipment can be confusing and it is difficult to know if your getting the most suitable equipment at the best price.
Generally most people opt for either an exercise bike, an elliptical machine or a rowing machine for home use. Used properly all three are good for developing your fitness but there are pros and cons to each type of equipment. If you understand the differences you can make a good choice when buying equipment.
Exercise bikes are generally the cheapest alternative and take up the least space. Unfortunately they don’t give you any upper body exercise unless you opt for a recumbent exercise bike, but they do all offer a good low impact workout routine that will tone you up and improve heart fitness. The cheapest models generally have friction resistance, the next price range up have magnetic resistance which is far smoother and worth opting for. If you need a machine that will fold, that is cheap and effective then opt for a folding magnetic upright exercise bike.
Elliptical trainers simulate a skiing action using arms and legs so offer more exercise options than a bike. However, the prices are higher often starting at $500 and the machines don’t fold so you need plenty of room for use. Buying an elliptical can be tough, ideally you need to try your favoured model to ensure the stepper action is both long enough to accommodate your stride length and comfortable to use. If your feet are to far apart on the footplates these machines can damage hip and knee joints so try before buying. Generally ellipticals with magnetic resistance at the front of the machine are considered to be smoothest to use.
A rowing machine for home use is good for exercising upper and lower body as well as good for the heart. Often in the same price range as a bike, a good quality cheap hydraulic rowing machine will often cost circa $120 and be easy to store as it will fold flat. Magnetic resistance rowing machines versions are often a little more expensive, smoother to operate, but harder to fold. If you are after a top home rower then an air rowing machine can come in at over $500. These won’t fold.
Choosing the best home exercise equipment is about understanding whether you want to exercise upper and lower body, how much storage space you need if any and what budget you have. If you identify these factors it makes buying the right equipment for the job that you will use time and time again far easier.
