At the foot of the Smoky Mountains rests a small town in Eastern, Tn.  It’s name and location gives you no reason to believe this town is worth a visit.  Yet, if you are looking for somewhere for your next family vacation you may seriously want to consider Pigeon Forget, Tennessee. You can stay in cabins all uniquely named, including one called Barbie’s Dream House in Gatlinburg TN.

Despite its small town status its town is the perfect tourist destination.  Amusement park lovers can enjoy Dollywood; Dolly Parton’s own theme park that is equipped with many rides, amazing food and many interesting stores that showcase the arts and crafts of the area.

Being at the park all day can get tiresome but the area has adapted to give you and your family plenty of activities to do.  With museums ranging from Ripley’s Believe it or Not, to one showcasing Elvis Presley and yet another featuring dinosaurs.  Kids only cooperate so long at museums and there are plenty of putt-putts and go cart areas to enjoy.

Another great option is to visit the Smoky Mountains.  In fact, many like to go tent camping or rent a cabin in the Smokies and than make their way down to Pigeon Forge for their activities. The town of Gatlinburg is close by and it too offers many activities for families to do together.  You can stay busy viewing the Smoky Mountains by hiking some of its beautiful trails.  It is not uncommon to see wildlife in this area living in their natural habitat.  It is only a short drive to access to the Appalachian Trail if you have always dreamed of hiking this trail.  You might not be able to hike the only thing but you can test it out a little bit and at least say you have hiked on the trail.

Pigeon Forge might not be the first city to come to your mind when planning your vacation but definitely consider it.  You will not be disappointed.
