The most popular product purchase on Amazon today is to buy a Kindle. Is it all just marketing or does the Kindle have something to offer. I have just pre-ordered my own Latest Generation Kindle so I will soon be able to find out for myself just how good, or bad, the Kindle really is.
There were quite a few points that made me decide the time was right to purchase a Kindle for myself. The thing with technology like this is that as time goes on, the technology gets better, faster, lighter and so on. Therefore the longer you wait, the better the product that you will eventually be able to purchase. However while you are waiting, you are without the product. This is why I thought I should just go for it and get a Kindle.
The Latest Generation model is really cool. I went for the smaller sized reader but am already beginning to wonder whether or not I should have chosen the Kindle DX instead. To be honest, as I was purchasing from Amazon I was sure that the smaller sized version would be the right size but not having actually seen a Kindle in real life before I am now beginning to wonder whether it is going to be too small.
Time will tell whether I have made the right decision to get a Kindle. But I am pretty confident that it will prove to be a good buy. This is for a number of reasons such as the sheer number of books that are available for free download. That is right, a massive range of out of copyright books are free on the Kindle. These books number almost 2 million so it is possible to buy a Kindle and then never have to buy another book again.

If you want to get a rice cooker then you may decide to buy a Zojirushi NS-ZCC10. This is one of their high end products and costs over $150 so it may not be for everyone. Zojirushi are a Japanese producer of high quality kitchen electronics and cookware. They make things such as vacuum packed lunch boxes, bread making machines, hot water boilers and their number one product, rice cookers.
Now a days they sell a number of their designs throughout the U.S. and Canada. The NS-ZCC10 features an advanced Micom computer chip that controls the cooker’s operations. If you would prefer a machine with the standard Micom functionality then you may decide to purchase a Zojirushi NS-TGC10 instead. This is similar but not quite the same. The good news is that it is actually a cheaper machine.
The NS-ZCC10 on the other hand has many different features that make it an attractive purchase. For many people it is the perfect rice cooker. It is the only Zojirushi rice cooker sold in North America to feature their stay cool handles. These are a nice safety feature. Once your rice has cooked you can easily remove the inner cooking bowl while it is still very hot by using the stay cool handles on the side. Zojirushi’s NS-ZCC10 has a hard white plastic body. It is durable and easy to clean if it ever gets messy. Washing the parts after making your rice is straight forward too. The inner cooking pot is non-stick so you do not have to scrub hard at all to remove any rice that is left in it. Also the inner lid comes out easily. This is a nice feature as it allows you to clean off the sticky rice steam that it gets covered with.

Ok maybe torture by road tip sounds a bit strong, but anyone who has spent 10+ hours in a minivan with a couple of kids knows exactly what I mean. The “are we there yet” normally doesn’t start for an hour and after that it seems to be downhill.
It is easy for people who have no children to say things like “bring something to keep them entertained”, it is never said by anyone who has actually tried to keep 3 children from ages 5 to 12 entertained in ways that don’t involve them picking on the youngest one or spending money.
There are some age old car games you can play, the secret is to not play them for too long and not to force any of the kids to join in. If the oldest child doesn’t want to do anything other than listen to the noise that she calls music on her ipod then let her.
Buying a car tv monitor makes sense if you go on more than one or two trips a year. I know it isn’t a good way to stimulate their minds, just letting them watch TV or a DVD for a couple of hours but it is one way to get some peace and quiet and that alone is worth the expense.
You can mix up the time that is allocated to DVD’s with time that is spent on games and of course make sure that you stop and have them walk around every few hours so taht the blood can circulate.
A couple of games that you can play on the road
-Car Bingo – do a small board with different car colors on and as they see one they mark it off. The first one to get them all wins a prize.
-State Spotting- have a list of all the states and as you see a number plate from that state you mark it off.
Children now have so much to do and so many gadgets at home that they may just be happy to sit back and enjoy the peace and quiet of the drive. Not likely but you can always hope, if all else fails bring some earplugs and make sure there are no sharp objects in the back seat.
