These lights are available in various styles depending on where they would be used. They can be made from a wide selection of materials including plastic, copper, or steel. The addition of solar powered post lights can greatly boost home safety since they can deter potential burglars and prowlers. These post lights will turn on every night even if there is a power outage.

Post lights are commonly used as street lights for security and safety reasons. Several studies revealed that numerous accidents, which often result to severe injuries and fatalities, mostly occur in dark street areas. Hence, having a trusty and efficient lighting source would greatly help to prevent this.

Meanwhile, homeowners may also want to install solar patio lighting in their home for added security. Solar patio lighting has various kinds which differ greatly in style, design, features, and size. Some solar patio lights are sold in the form of string and umbrella lighting. String and umbrella lights are available in varying styles and colors, though string lights are usually cheaper than the umbrella lights.

Do you like spending time with your friends on your patio? Do you want to chit-chat all night on your patio with your BFFs? Do you enjoy embracing the cool night breeze outside your house? If yes, then you might want to consider a patio umbrella light so that you can do all those things with ease and comfort!

Patio umbrella lights are used for outdoor purposes. These lights provide illumination on your patio umbrella or even a commercial umbrella. With these, you can dine outside of your house with your family or even play board games without worrying about the darkness of the night.

These lights actually have 4 types. First is the string type. It is like Christmas lights and it is arranged well on the ribs of the umbrella. This type of lighting provides a soft glow of light thus not suitable for reading or doing any paper works. The problem with this type of light is that you need a nearby electrical outlet so you cannot place the patio umbrella anywhere.

Second is the Lamp type. This type of light is attached on the pole of the umbrella and gives a brighter illumination than the string type. If you like reading or finish office works outdoor, it is best to use this type of light to prevent straining of the eyes.

Third is the battery operated type. This is suitable for umbrellas that are located away from an electrical outlet. The problem with this type of light is that you need to charge the batteries every now and then.

Last type is the solar powered patio lights. Though it has a high purchasing cost, still the benefits that it provides renders the cost unnoticeable. These lights do not eat up electricity since they make use of solar energy. The solar energy that they absorb from the sun is kept within their battery so that when the night would come, the stored energy can be used to give a FREE illumination. With these lights, there is no need of plugging something into an electrical outlet or charging of battery. If there would be a time when the weather is gloomy, solar lights could still illuminate but not as bright as with the fully exposed ones.

Patio umbrella light usually uses LED bulbs. These led bulbs do not produce too much heat thus they do not have the capacity to destroy the fabric of the umbrella. Led lights are durable and can last for years. The best thing with patio umbrella light is that the light it emits does not attract insects thus providing you the best ambience and scene outdoor.

One of the best ways to add a touch of elegance to your home is to install solar powered outdoor lighting.  These lights not only just add an extra touch of class, but also make your home safer and are incredibly easy to install, maintain, and move around to your liking.  They are the ultimate way for the amateur landscape architect to get their feet wet in designing some outdoor lighting.  If this sounds great to you, here are a few different places that you can use your solar lighting.

One great use of solar light fixtures is on your patio.  Solar patio lights are not just good looking, but they’re really useful as well.  The soft glow from the light will help to shed a little light on your patio but also help to set a soft, welcoming mood.  There are a multitude of different fixtures that you can choose from that can help to give your patio the unique look that you want as well.

Another great use for solar lights fixtures is as walkway lighting.  Solar walkway light fixtures will use their soft glow to illuminate paths, driveways, and stairs around your property and increase its safety and add a nice soft glow that leads people around and creates a welcoming atmosphere.

Solar lights even work great as accent lights on different features on your landscape.  You can use them in flowerbeds, on statues, ponds, or as up lights for trees.  Just be careful that you make sure you still place them in the sun, placing solar lights under the shade of trees or shrubs will seriously degrade their life span and power.

Solar lighting is a great way to add a touch of elegance, style, and even safety to your home.  They work great when you install them on your patio, walkways, and even as accent lights, but don’t limit your solar lights to these areas.  Think about some other unique ways you can use them on your property.

Stylish Patio Umbrella Lighting

Avalon’s wireless and rechargeable patio umbrella lighting provide the hostess at an outdoor party with two different ways to light up each umbrella covered table. Each of these wire free lights comes with a patented open and shut clamp. That clamp allows the circular lamp to be placed on the umbrella pole. There, from a position under the spreading canopy, it can emit a downward glow.

If a hostess so desires, she can choose to remove that lamp from the pole, and put it on a table. When turned on, the lighted circle sends rays of light streaming upward from the tabletop. Yet the Avalon product should not be seen as the only lamp designed for use in an outdoor environment.

Park Hill Lanterns look magnificent on an umbrella covered table. Like Avalon’s product, which has a bronze finish, the Park Hill lanterns can withstand exposure to the elements. Each lantern contains a combination of weathered pine and rugged tin. The look available in each of the three sizes copies the style of the street lamps that were used in early Nineteenth Century Europe.

The hostess who would like to supplement her new lamps  and outdoor candle  lanterns with a few colorful umbrellas should take a look at the items offered by Pottery Barn. These nine inch PB umbrellas make the job of protecting guests or oneself from the sun’s rays much easier. Because each of these round canopies has a staked end, it can be taken to the beach and stuck in the sand.

Three additional features amplify the usefulness of this same umbrella, on the shore of a lake or ocean. Each PB umbrella comes with a convenient bag, so that it be carried to any location with relative ease. Moreover, each pole centered object has a water repellent polyester canvas and a straight support that is made from FSC certified, solid eucalyptus wood.

Patio Lighting: Safety First

Pretty paper lanterns and fun colored lights can certainly make a patio party beautiful, but don’t forget patio lighting for safety and security. You may not need any light on your patio because you know where the paths and the steps are. Guests who might be unfamiliar with your home need a little help when it comes to staying on stairs and walkways.

You can purchase small LED lights designed to be mounted on handrails or wrapped around them in a rope to help people see where your patio or deck changes in elevation. Tiny lights that mount underneath stairs and ledges can also help them see where to step. Even if there are no obstacles, walkways that go from paved to grass are prime areas for twisted ankles and falls. Light these up with solar walkway lights spaced about every 5 feet or use an LED rope light all along the edge, depending on what kind of mood you’d like to create.

If you have many guests in a small area, brighter lighting might be preferred overall so consider bright lanterns or lamps on each table. And don’t forget the allure of candles. As long as they’re used safely where there is no risk of fire, candles floating in a pool, on a pond, in a fountain or in a bowl on each table add a beautiful, soft glow and help brighten the entire area without being harsh. LED lights that are safe for use in water are also perfect for things like pools and fountains. These don’t provide much light to see by, but they do create an ambient light that can help to create that party atmosphere.

When you’re designing your party lighting, don’t forget things like the shadows that will be created by any patio lights you use. The brighter the light, the more pronounced the shadow will be. Be sure the shadows you create don’t camouflage areas like steps and ledges.
