Windows XP Repair Product Review
There are many competing registry cleaners available these days so Windows XP Repair has its work cut out to stay current and maintain the 3 million customers it already has. This review looks at the 2010 Pro version to see what’s new and improved.
The Windows XP Repair is available as a small download and install executable which, after installation, proceeds to pull down from their servers a dynamic list of system/registry checks that the program is to run. As new computer are found, this database continuously is being added to.
Novice users will no doubt use the simplified scan for fixing computers registry issues in one single click of a button; the program uses a number of default scans to run that will catch out the bulk of system faults you may experience.
Advanced users will still get a kick out of running the additional scans provided and these are well detailed in the provided documentation.
Some value added features in the new product look like they have maybe been put in to compete with what others (e.g. RegEasy, RegCure) are doing. The best features are the automated registry back, and its associated recovery centre, along with the registry defragmentation tool (invaluable on older PCs where the registry can become many megabytes in size which slows down key access speeds).
However, the anonymous internet feature, disk cleaning tool and the start-up programs administrator feature all seem a little out of place with the product’s core functionality. Users should be buying the product because it fixes the registry well. That said, it is nice having these PC maintenance tools in one spot (rather than the several freeware options that many users would most likely have already).
Windows XP Repair is one of those solid, reliable tools that are definitely worth having in your PC maintenance toolkit. The recovery centre/backup tool alone can help resolve a vast number of system failures and blue screen exceptions.
