Etfs are an exciting investment because they retain certain tax benefits and are thus more appealing than other types of investments. In addition, oil etfs are relatively easy to trade.
Another way to invest in oil is to invest directly in oil wells via companies that pursue domestic oil revitalization programs. Though exploratory oil well drilling carries a higher risk, revitalization programs involve sites that have already been documented and verified. Revitalization programs convert such sites to new management. While investing in a company is more common, direct investing decreases expenses involved in that process, such as excessive overhead.
